Privacy Policy
Splities is made by Jianou Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the Splities iPhone app and this website collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we only keep what Splities needs to work, we don’t sell it, and we don’t use ads or analytics.
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address, the name you choose and your password. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google service), and we never see them.
- Your profile photo, if you add one. We store a small, compressed copy.
- What you add to groups. Group names, emoji and currencies; the names of the people in a group, including people who don’t use Splities; expenses (what they were for, the amount, the date, who paid and how they’re split); payments you record; and invite codes you create.
- Your settings, such as which groups you’ve archived, which group opens by default and whether totals are hidden.
We don’t collect your location, contacts or advertising identifiers, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites. Splities only asks for access to your photos when you choose a profile photo, and only the photo you pick is used.
How we use it
Only to run Splities: to sign you in, to store your groups and keep them in sync across your devices, to show the people in your groups who owes whom, and to reply when you contact us. We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- People in your groups can see that group’s details, expenses and payments, and the names and profile photos of its members.
- Anyone you give an invite code to can see the group’s name and your name before they join.
- Our service provider, Google Firebase, stores and processes data for us (Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Hosting). Your information may be stored on Google’s servers outside your country.
- Authorities, if we’re required to share information by law.
On your device
Splities keeps a copy of your groups on your device so it works without a connection. Changes made offline sync when you’re back online.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Account → Delete Account. This deletes your account, your profile photo and your settings, and deletes the groups you own for everyone in them. You’re removed from groups you’ve joined; expenses and payments you added there stay, so everyone else’s balances remain correct.
You can also email us at jianoustudio@gmail.com to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it or to have it deleted.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access rules mean only you and the people in your groups can read your groups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will act quickly if something goes wrong.
Children
Splities isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we’ll also let you know in the app.
